For a time, The Gauge was officially the country’s Greenest building, being the first to be awarded a 6 star Green Star Office 'As Built' Certified Rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. A collaborative design effort between Hecker Guthrie, WHO design and client, Lend Lease, the inspiration behind this design was to create a diverse working culture for employees, providing places for reading and retreat, for activity and vitality. The floors are peppered with walkways reflective of Melbourne’s laneways to provide a sense of intimacy and a sense of discovery, an inherently Melbourne characteristic.
